The way of the Buddha is to know yourself;
To know yourself is to forget yourself;
To forget yourself is to be awakened by all things. Dogen - Thirteenth Century Zen Monk

Touching the Earth: Awakening to Our Lives
with Susie Harrington

at the Bodhi Mandala Retreat Center in Jemez Springs, NM
Thursday – Wednesday, August 27th-Sept. 2nd, 2015
(registration begins Thursday at 2 p.m. and the retreat ends Wednesday at 1 p.m.)

Held in the beauty of the Bodhi Mandala Zen Center in Jemez Springs, NM, we will cultivate a practice of ease, relaxation, and connection. Meeting each moment with an open and curious heart, allowing the mind and body to settle into each moment with grace, our native intelligence becomes available and responsive. During this retreat, we will cultivate an open and joyful response to the life we are living in each moment of the retreat and beyond.

While our lives have their challenges, and the Buddha spoke directly to the difficulty of the human experience, it is our response in each moment that ultimately creates our individual experience. Through the opportunity of retreat we can examine more closely, and wisely adjust, our relationship to the experience — taking us toward ever more ease, joy, and awareness.

The retreat will be held in Noble silence with dharma talks, instructions, and opportunities for Q&A, and meetings with the teacher. We will spend our time in sitting and walking practice, much of the time outside. This retreat is appropriate for those newer to practice and those with experience.

Cost varies depending on lodging selection; details on other side.
Preference will be given to retreatants who attend the full seven days.
Some openings may be available for those who need to leave Sunday afternoon.

The Tradition of Dana: The Buddha’s teachings are offered according to the principal of dana, an ancient Pali word meaning generosity, giving, or gift. Dana has played a central role throughout the 2,500 year-old tradition of Buddhism. Honoring this ancient custom, the teachers in this lineage receive no salary and rely entirely on the generosity of retreat participants for their compensation. (Meals and housing are provided while they are teaching the retreat). Participants will have the opportunity to offer dana at the end of the retreat, so please have either check or cash available for offering dana.

Residential Retreat with Susie Harrington in late August. Co-sponsored with Albuquerque Vipassana Sangha and Santa Fe Vipassana Sangha.

Stay tuned for more information, coming after March 2015!
